The Association
was formed in 1947 as a result of a getting together of nine businessmen who felt that as a group they will be able to source materials cheaper and also as a collective voice, appeals to the government and statutory bodies about their grievances and reflection of members’ wishes will lend more weight then individuals.

The business of the association was first carried out in the old Chong Cheng School at 322 Beach Road.
