It has been 50 years since the establishment of the Singapore Ship-Chandlers Association. These 50 years have seen considerable growth in the association under the unity and perseverance of its members.

Singapore Ship-Chandlers Association
has also in the past 50 years, established a deep yet extensive relationship with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce And Industry (SCCCI) and the six trade associations.

Singapore Ship-Chandlers provide essential services and supplies to vessels arriving at Singapore Port, shipyards as well as gas and oil exploration industries. With the emergence of the oil drilling business in the 70s and 80s, Singapore became the central supplier for the in Southeast Asia refineries and for the gas and oil exploration company using Singapore as its marine and supply base. This quickened the pace of the growth and internationalisation of Singapore’s shipchandler business.

Today, in line with the computerisation of the ports, the industry has grown into a prospering and modern one, a far cry from the days of sampans and boats. Together with Singapore’s shipchandler history and experience built over the years, co-operation and trust between associates, and our strategically located free port, we believe that we are poised and prepared to meet the challenges of the next millennium in the ship supplies industries.
